Here’s the latest edition of “Members’ Showcase” and it’s a good one! Just like I envisioned four years ago – people from around the world submitting GreatBirdPics for all to enjoy. Take a look:
We start out with Paul Demkovich’s White-Tailed Ptarmigan he found at high elevation in Colorado. I love the red eyebrow!
Birder2011 shared a series of photographs of a pair of immature Green Herons in a pond near where she lives in Chicagoland. I particularly like this one where the two of them are perched in identical poses.
This stunning shot of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird was shared by Kaur from Ohio. I’ve never seen one insert its head so far into a flower before, have you? Note Kaur took the shot with a shutter speed of 1/4000th of a second. Nice and sharp, too. GreatBirdPic!
Here’s a new one for me – a Maned Duck. Daltsysnr shared this picture he took in Australia, where it is commonly known as an Australian Wood Duck.
Our last bird today has multiple names. The Maori of New Zealand call it a Riroriro, the common name used there is a Grey Warbler, and the Clements/eBird classification lists it as a Grey Gerygone. No matter what you call it, it’s a dainty little bird.
