GBP Members’ Bird Photography Showcase 12/26/24

Thanks to all who took some time over the holiday to share their pics with us.  Here are some that I really liked:

Burning Nature Photography was haunting the battlefields of Gettysburg recently and captured this image of an American Kestrel with its prey.  I like the composition – the bird is small within the frame, centered but the background fence helps give the shot context.  Well done!

Asteinmann was at Iguazu Falls in Brazil and took this shot of Great Dusky Swifts roosting BEHIND the falls (note the drops of water in the shot)!  Looks like they are hanging on for dear life!

Here’s our “Awww!” pic of the day.  A Southern Lapwing chick with mom or dad looking on nearby.

Finally, a beautiful image of a Northern Shoveler along the shore of a lake in Lexington, KY.  These birds migrate south in the winter but I’m surprised to see them in Kentucky as we haven’t seen any in Chicagoland yet this year.  Striking picture from Avneet Kaur!
