Courtship Sequence

During our Birds and Wines of Chile and Argentina tour we were driving down a busy divided four-lane highway when our guide Marcello called for our driver to pull over.  What did he spot?  We walked across all the lanes of traffic to get to the shoulder on the opposite side and there we found a small flock of Burrowing Parakeets perched high above us on the wire paralleling to the highway.  I focused my attention on two of them that appeared to be engaged in a courtship ritual.  They nuzzled together and then one flew over the other and resumed snuggling.  These parakeets live in the colonies and build their homes in bluffs or on the banks of rivers.
