Birds of Brazil

World traveler asteinmann was recently birding in Brazil and took pictures of several striking birds I’ve never seen before.  Them them out:

Aptly named Yellow-browed Sparrow.  Striking yellow!

Check out this next bird – a Hoatzin!  Crazy cowl and eyes.  Asteinmann says they were fairly common there, but I don’t think I would ever get tired of seeing this one.

Here’s another different looking one – kinda crazy-looking if you ask me.  A Black-capped Donacobis.

Asteinmann said a flock of half-a-dozen of these Red-capped Cardinals were foraging near the ground.  It didn’t have typical traits like a cardinal to me so I looked it up – Wikipedia said it is a member of the Tanager family.  I’m not surprised, given the colors.

GBP member mentioned she likes pics of parrots, so here’s one for you from Brazil – a Dusky Parrot.

That’s just a few of the images asteinmann shared with us from his Brazil trip.  To see them all go to the Search All menu, then select Brazil as the country and asteinmann as the author.
