Birds In The Rain Contest Winner Announced

My brother Mark (Xwinger) and I were on Zoom and reviewing the 33 images submitted in the “Birds In The Rain” contest when I heard him say, “I’ve got to go.  The police are here.”  With that his computer went dark and I sat there wondering, what the heck?  Fifteen minutes later he called back and apologized saying that the police were just following up on an incident that occurred in his neighborhood recently.  Whew!  A few minutes later we had selected the winner.

Birder 2011 submitted this beautiful picture of a Green Honeycreeper taken in Costa Rica a year ago.  Mark and I commented on the water droplets that beaded up on the head and back of the bird, the water drops streaking down in the background, and the overall quality of the picture.  We noted, after looking at all the entries that it must be difficult to get a sharp focus of birds in the rain.  Congratulations to Birder 2011 for winning the $100 prize!

Tomorrow I’ll share the five Honorable Mention photos.  Thanks again to all the photographers who submitted their images with us – I’m sure most of these shots came with the price of getting wet (themselves and their camera gear).
